First Round

Well, we got our paperwork in the mail on Saturday for our first round of artifical insemination with the new doctor!!  We were so excited when it came!!  We sat down and read thru the entire packet.  It has the prescriptions for the meds that I will need to get and instructions and information about what to expect.  I called the different pharmacy numbers that the doctor gave to me to check on the prices of the meds....WOW!!!!  One place wants over $1000 for the 3 medications that I will need and the other place want $720.  Needless to say, we are going to go with the $720.

Well, my doctor's office doesn't open for another 20 mins, but when they do, I will call them and tell them that yes, this is something that we want to do.  They will have to call in a prescription for me for Provera (to bring my period).  I will take a pregnancy test in the morning just to make sure that I am not pregnent, and then I will start the Provera.  I will take that for 10 days, and then 5 days after that, I should start.  Once I start, I have to call the doctor and schedule an ultrasound to make sure that I dont' have any cysts on my ovaries.  If I do, then we will not go forward with the insemination, but if I don't then we will go forward with it.  So, I will most likely start the pills and injections around April 20, 2011.  I will take them for 8 days, and then we will go in for a follicle scan to see how many follicles that I produced and how big they are.  They need to be between 18-25 millimeters to procede with the insemination.  Also, they will check for any cysts again before we go any further.  If everything looks good (fingers crossed), then Dustin will give me a HCG shot in the bottom that night, to release my egg(s), and then 2 days later, we will go in for the insemination!!

I am so excited and I feel really good about this.  I know that I should probably not get my hopes up, but it is so hard not to.  It feels like our little miracle is just out of our reach, and we just keep inching closer and closer.  Will this be the time that we succeed and finally reach our miracle.  Everyone, including Dustin and I, seem to think that something good will come out of this, so lets just keep praying that it does!  I will be sure to keep you updated on how things are going.

Until next time....
